Thrifty Thursday: Balmain Inspired

(Photos from We Heart It)

If you're like me, you chose (or didn't choose) to sit out the Balmain for H&M mass hysteria. But you still feel a twinge of regret for not nabbing a piece of well tailored H&M goodness. Not to fear, loves! You can still achieve the Balmain look without spending your rent money or taking to eBay to find the H&M version that, with the way some of these pieces are priced, might as well be the real thing.

So, what do you need to look for to capture quintessential Balmain style?
A) Military Elements
They are called the "Balmain Army for a reason. Sharp angles, clean lines, military inspired pieces are what you're looking for.

B) Details, details, details!
Embellishments, brocade, beading, piping, you name it, it's to be found on a Balmain piece, with exception to their plain logo tees.

C) Homme and Femme
Balmain combines masculine and feminine elements effortlessly. Their jackets usually have a very strong appearance with shoulder pads and tough details, yet they taper at the waist for a feminine flair.

D) Is for Draping
Balmain dresses look like the fabric has been poured over a woman's body quite beautifully. Look for pieces that drape very well

With all that being said, best of luck in your Balmain-Inspired search. To get you started, here are a few pieces I've found that reflect all of the elements Balmain is known for, minus the price.
