Spring Trends to Shop Second Hand

Second hand is proving to be a viable, if not preferable, means of obtaining great pieces for frugal fashionistas. And this Spring is the perfect time to step up your vintage game, whether going high end at the resale shop or discovering budget friendly beauties at the thrift.

Last week's Thrifty Thursday featured all the Spring Transitionalwear you can score at the thrift.

This week's feature is all about the Spring Trends. As we've talked about before, there is no reason to splurge on trends because they change so often. And the second you obtain the IT item of the moment, the moment usually passes. But the cool thing about shopping vintage is its longevity. The fact that these pieces have survived multiple years and possibly multiple owners is a testament to their quality and adds to the cool factor.

The best way to score this season's bohemian, laid back, vintage feeling top trends as seen on the runway: Go Second Hand!

Here's what I mean:
Denim Jackets-
There are few things more quintessentially spring as a lived in denim jacket. Go vintage to capture this season's 70's vibes.

Suede-
Suede is having a huge moment. Yes, in spring. And vintage stores are usually rife with it. But unlike the fast fashion imitation suede everyone else will be buying, you can get authentic suede in beautiful vintage styles for about the same price.

Knits-
It seems counterintuitive to say spring is huge for knits. But the runways were covered in light and feminine open knitwear. Score some gorgeously gauzy pieces at your resale shop to tap into the lives in feel of the season.

Slip Dresses-
Talk about a blast from the past. Slip dresses haven't received this much love since Baby Spice wore them in the 90's. Grab a great vintage lacy ladylike one and stand out from the crowd.

Fringe-
Along with the 70's boho feel, Spring is slathered in fringe. Whether in leather, suede, fabric, or threads, you can definitely find a vintage fringe piece at most second hand stores.

Lightweight Denim-
A far departure from our almost black jeans of seasons past, this season's denim is light in fabric and in color. Thrift stores are full of these genius jeans, whether it's skater skirts or the real deal mom jeans.

White Button Down Shirts-
If there has been a season more in love with white button down shirts that had nothing to do with office wear, I haven't seen it. This wardrobe staple is being worn in a ton of ways, whether fitted, flowy, oversize, or even as a dress. And second hand shops are pretty much guarantee to carry such common and chic pieces.

Boho Jewels-
The 70's vibe would be incomplete without big bohemian jewels. Unlike the major minimalist moment we were having last season, this season's jewels are big and piled on. And the best place to find authentic jewels on the cheap? You guessed it: Second hand.

Vintage Accessories-
Whether purses, belts, scarves or shades, the vintage feel is inundating Soring trends. The best way to get that vintage feel for less is just to buy vintage outright.
