12 Ways to Stay Motivated to Work Out in Winter

Summer bodies are made in the winter, or at least thats what all my fit friends say. Me, I wouldn't know, but I'm willing to find out. A few weeks ago, I started a fitness routine with a goal of being the strongest I have ever been. And I am starting to see results, albeit in small things like my jeans being a little looser, having a bit more energy, and going further today than I went yesterday.

There are many things you can do to stay motivated during the cold months so that all your effort pays off in the warmer ones. It doesn't have to be anything big or fancy, motivation just has to be enough to get you to move and to sweat for at least 30 minutes a day. Here is how I am staying motivated to work out daily:

Be clear about your fitness goals
Remember, it's a lifestyle change, not a diet
Plan workout and achievement rewards
Surround yourself with rotating motivation
Give yourself challenges
Change up your routine
Take a fun or unique class
Document your progress with pictures (you can choose to post or not)
Promise yourself that no matter what, you will finish
Be patient with yourself, progress may be slow, but it's worth having
When it gets difficult, remember why you started
