Thrifty Tip #25: When You're Unsure, Go With Friends!

Resale shopping for the first time can be a daunting experience. Where to go? When to go? What place has sales or promotions? These questions and more in combination with our own ideas/insecurities about the entire shopping experience could be overwhelming...unless you have a pro resale shopper as a buddy.

Here are 3 of my closets buds, (left to right) Dominique (who've you all have seen before), Janay, and Veronica. And I'm going to take them shopping.

First, make a plan of attack. Different women shop different ways. Some are slow grazers, needing to pick through everything on every rack while casually conversing with others. Some are predators, eyeing a few items in the store, snatching them off of their racks to beeline to the cash register. Some want to see everything. Some know exactly what they are looking for and want to get there without the distraction of other things. Talk it over so that styles won't clash and everyone can help each other do well and have a good time in the process.

One of the best elements in bringing a friend to shop is the honesty she/he can give you about what you're thinking about buying. Even if you don't have a buddy who knows her/his way around a resale shop, still bring one. Good friends will always be honest about how something looks.

Here's Janay telling me about this Starbucks apron, knowing that I love Starbucks, will probably use it, and (after checking the 1 dollar price) allowed me to add it to my items to be purchased.

Hope this helps! Happy thrifting gorgeous people!
