Some thoughts I had this week...
I think a lot of things throughout the week, and not all of them make it to the blog. Most of these things I share on my social media and my friends rant at me to share them here. In an attempt to rectify this, here we are, things I think throughout the week.
Unpopular Opinion: The same man ranting about a woman wearing makeup, weave, or nails being fake wears Timbs and has a beard, and there is no greater deception that those extra 2 inches from your glorified shoe lifts and face hair. Just saying....
Unpopular Opinion: Not all masculinity is toxic and not all femininity is healthy.
Not all men operate in their egos and not all women operate in their emotions.
It's ok to let people be individuals. We don't all play into the stereotypes of our genders...
My whole mood for the duration of 2019 |
Unpopular opinion (brutality honest edition):
let’s face it fellas, the real reason why some of you are having so much trouble with these R. Kelly stories is that they are too close to some of your own stories.
There was a time where you know you didn’t have consent.
There was a time where she said no but you kept going anyway.
There was a time where you called your female cousin, your neighbor, or some girl in your school “fast” because older guys flock to her, not realizing that she was being preyed upon.
Maybe you yourself were attracted to girls who are not quite legal.
And in the indictments of men like R Kelly, you see your own self-indictment.
And stop all this finger pointing at white men like Elvis or John Lennon. Yeah, they were creeps too and yeah the stories of those women should be told as well. However, that doesn’t negate what RKelly did, and by doing so, all you are saying is that “we want to be treated like white men”, not that “we want justice for those women”.
I am convinced that #BlackTwitter should be a government funded agency and if Black Twitter cannot find it, it never existed.

Finally watched #BirdBox and I have a few thoughts:
- All of yall don't have Netflix accounts
- It's actually not THAT scary of a movie and I am a jumpy person
- This movie reminds me of "The Happening"
- That Black man should have taken those kids
- Every person of color in this movie was a hero
- But I hate how every Black man sacrificed themselves
- While there are some spiritual moments, some of yall will over-spiritualize anything
People who I am no longer listening to:
-Anyone who defended R. Kelly
-Anyone who defended Bill Cosby
-Anyone who told Cardi to take back Offset
-Anyone who supported Kanye in his Trump/Dragon phase
-Anyone who is mad at Rihanna & Serena for interracial relationships.
Y'all have dirt under your nails. Y'all eat beige plates and never drink water. Y'all are the same fools who catcall and when not responded to, hurl insults. Yall are part of the problem.
Shout out to those entitled millennials.
The ones who call out generational curses in their families. The ones who make therapy as normal as the dentist. The ones fighting for equality across the board. The ones who call for common sense reform. The ones who work full time and side hustle their dream until their dream becomes their job. The ones who hold on tight to principles but toss aside outdated methods for effective ones in a heartbeat. The ones who live up to our name of Generation (wh)Y and ask the questions that need answers.
Shout out to those entitled millennials, who are entitled enough to want a better world, and driven enough to work for it.
Join me next week for more thoughts.
