Lip Plumper: But umm why?

Lip Plumpers are becoming incredibly popular as those who have longed for a super pout similar to Kylie Jenner without the surgery flock to the Internet to obtain devices that will help. I actually only just became aware of this frowning beauty trend a few months ago when a beauty profile I follow on Instagram posted a video of a young woman using the beauty device.

The majority of the watchers, like me, commented in horror as we watched this already lovely young woman stick her lips into the device, suck for a moment and rip it from her lips revealing swollen and strange looking lips. Then she simply slide on a layer of lip gloss and posed as if this was the desired look she was going for.

Then I found that a writer from Marie Claire also tried the lip plumper tool, her results almost as ridiculous.

A few of the readers even called out the writer, stating the obvious, Kylie Jenner, although she is only 17 years old is beholden to enough wealth to obtain her own home so of course she could have had lip surgery and wouldn't submit here famous pout to such butchery as this.

Then I found this article, written in February of this year from the Daily Mail telling of one woman's horrible experience using one of these devices.
Poor Aussie Brittany, a 24 year old Masters student attempted to use the CandyLipz device. (I personally don't know why. I think she's lovely on her own.) Her results? Well there is a full video, but here's what happened:
Poor Brittany.

What did the company have to say! According to Daily Mail, "CandyLipz said they 'love' the video and couldn't believe how plump Brittany's lips were following the application. 'My, she got huge lips, we love it' CandyLipz told Daily Mail Australia. The company said that the swelling is a sign that the product has actually worked and it is 'normal' to get cupping marks from the applicator. 'It is very normal to get the cupping marks. These marks are temporary and will resolve within 7 days or less,' a spokesperson said.

O....k. So they "loved" the obvious horror and pain Brittany went through? The cupping and brushing is normal? Sounds like something someone from the Kardashian clan would actually use?

Brittany isn't alone. Many people have tried various lip plumpers and ended up with similar results. Bleeding, bruising, numbness, stinging, and pain. Some of these devices have potential to cause permanent damage.

All of this to have the obviously doctored up lips of a wealthy 17 year old girl? Thanks but no thanks. I'll stick to my lip gloss.

What are your thoughts?
