To the kid who littered KKK Flyers all over Roslyn, PA.

To the kid who left KKK flyers in Abington,

Hi, my name is Whitney.

I heard about the flyer sharing you did last night.

The police say they saw you on your bicycle, tossing your hate flyers all around Roslyn like old newspapers nobody wants. Just like the "organization" you are promoting. The KKK is old news that no one wants.

There are some that are going to write it off as kids being kids. (I wish they had also thought that of Tamir Rice, Trayyvon Martin, Mike Brown, and Emmitt Teal and none of them went on a bigotry loaded littering spree in their neighborhoods.)

But I cannot write it off. Not when there were similar litterings in Hatboro and other townships surrounding Philadelphia, other places where I personally have spent loads of time, other places where my own family resides. I take personal offense to your flyer spreading. I grew up in the neighboring township of Cheltenham, where our mascot is the Black Panther. Abington's is the ghost. (Personally, I think you may be taking this ghost thing a little too literally.)

What you did last night was cowardly, waiting until nightfall before going out to spread your literature. The same as the hate group you are promoting.

At the KKK's core, they are terrorists and they are cowards. Nothing more.

They have gone out under the cover of night and hood to terrorize people who look like me for generations, always scattering off before daylight. Like albino roaches.

They call themselves "knights" but not one of them can stand on their own, going out in a mob to feel safe.

Just a raggedy band scared little white boys who talk a big game but cannot stand in the light and show their own faces.

Big talk and bold hate, hidden beneath darkness and bedsheets.

They are so cowardly, as many as their leaders say they have, only a literal handful of them and their hate-filled brotheren showed up to the "Unite the Right 2" event. Meanwhile, a sea of counter-protestors of every ethnicity, age, gender, ability, and orientation showed up, no masks, no hoods, no hate.

What you and this dusty, dingy, dimwitted klan do not understand is that there is no place of hate here in America, this country of immigrants and dreamers. And with every tiki torch, MAGA hat, swastika, hooded meeting and rally your ilk attempt to have, there will be many more who think like me who will be there, ready to send your rhetoric back to the forgotten annals of American history.

Yes, you are right about one thing, there is nothing wrong with being White, no one thinks that there is. But there is also nothing wrong with being from any other ethnicity either. There is nothing wrong with being proud of who you are and the story of your people, but there is also nothing wrong with me being proud of mine either.

However, that pride also comes with a clear view of history and how our peoples have shaped it. We don't dismiss the past because we don't like it, we address it because we are informed by it.

Only cowards, like the group you are aligning yourself with, would turn a blind eye to their own contribution to that story, tossing the blame upon those whom they inflicted such sadistic pain and terror as the cause of the lack of their own pride in their people.

Is that the legacy you want to leave? That you were a coward among cowards, hiding your face beneath old sheets, burning crosses, and hiding in the dark? Too afraid to come into the light and show who you are?

I ask you to consider this. That this group you are affiliating with has done nothing worth celebrating, just a bunch of thugs in hoods whose path only leads to terror and violence, not change. I ask that you reconsider who you align yourself with. The KKK was put down once before, and they will be put down again, only this time, it will be for good.

Signed,
A Black Woman who is sick of the shit.
