Maybe you want to participate but you’re not quite sure how to get involved. Here are the 5 impactful ways to participate in #GivingTuesday:
Use your platform for good and take to your favorite socials by using the #GivingTuesday hashtag to share what you’re doing. You can also retweet and repost social media posts from nonprofits and charities when. If you aren't able to give financially or with your time as much as you’d like, you can still help by boosting #GivingTuesday posts on your social media.
Donate to your favorite nonprofit
There are plenty of nonprofits doing great work that rely on donations in order to not only do that great work but to even survive. That is where you come in. Check out the #GivingTuesday site to find nonprofits in your neighborhood to donate to, or check out MightyCause for more specific NPO's to give to. If you want to know more about the organizations you give to, check out Give.org, an organization that rates other NPO's on transparency and accountability.
Volunteer your time
Time is always appreciated, and while #GivingTuesday is mostly an online event, there are still plenty of organizations that need daily, hands-on help. Check out the #GivingTuesday site to find the contact information for nonprofits in your area.
Start your own fundraiser
Did you know you can start your own fundraiser simply on Facebook? Just log into your Facebook and click ‘Fundraisers’ on the left-hand side of the screen (under the Explore tab). From there, check out options to start a fundraiser for #GivingTuesday. This year, Facebook and PayPal are matching donations up to a total of $7 million. Learn more on the site.
Start a charitable giving habit
#GivingTuesday is not meant to be stuck to one Tuesday a year. Being charitable all year long, whether by donating spare items, contributing monetarily, or becoming a financial supporter, there are so many ways to live a more charitable and thoughtful life. Go forth and do good for others!
