This is how you do it: Nike, K-Swiss, and Converse release their BHM Sneakers

SneakerNews
This Black History Month has been a little strange, particularly in the fashion realm. As we have seen, without knowledge or awareness of cultural sensitivities and historical truths, certain tributes have tanked, and embarrassingly so. Not that we as Black people need any tribute to know how awesome our culture is (um hello!), but if you're gonna do a tribute, you besta do it right!

However, there are big brands out there who are indeed getting tributes and shout-outs right. These labels took note of the unique colorful vibrancy of the African American experience, ensuring that colors, patterns, and designs exuded the creativity, endurance, strength, and pride of a people who literally built this country and refuse to let anyone forget it.

Unlike the Adidas faux pas we witnessed a few short weeks ago, the following brands took the time and made a beautiful effort in creating pairs of kicks even the least sneakerhead can be proud and very comfortable to wear.

The iconic Chuck 70 High Top by Converse

K-Swiss x DJ Clark Kent Classic 88 sneaker

But the biggest shoe shout-out goes out to Nike, who, since 2005 has consistently released limited edition kicks for Black History Month. This year, Nike went full Wakanda with 6 amazing pairs of kicks with 3 super cool pairs just for the ladies, including the following:

The female-specific design, the NikeCourt Flare 2 QS which was inspired by the GOAT, Serena Williams' on-court Tennis shoe.

The Nike Zoom KD11 BHM in honor of Kevin Durant

And, last but not least, the Kyrie 5 version features Nike Air Zoom Turbo in honor of Kyrie Irving (my personal favorite design).
