Oh, Uh-Uh: Taylor Swift's Homegoing Performance

BuzzFeed
Ok ladies, now let's do imitation...

Looks like Taylor Tree Farm Swift is back at it again. Following her last dragging by the Beyhive for her very obvious copying of Beyoncé's Formation for her dry-ass crying song "Look what you made me do. Receipts below:

Literally Lemonade vs Minute Made.

Well, Swifty Snake is back at it. The recent Billboard Music Awards opened awkwardly with a completely colonized version of Beyoncé's Homecoming, complete with the offbeat cotton candy pink-clad drumline from Pennsyl-tucky State "drumline" and Swift herself in an outfit pretty reminiscent of last year's Coachella destruction known as Beychella.

Anyone who witnessed the sheer and blatant unseasoned caucasity I am not the only one who thinks so. Check out these tweets.

Of course, the Swifties have swiftly come to the defense of there Mayochella Maven. But who really cares when you have actual receipts of the very obvious idea snatching that occurred for what was supposed to be Swift's triumphant musical return that very quickly devolved into a very obvious moment of performance colonization.

Swift's majorette outfit vs Beyoncé's majorette boots
On the bright side, Swift has given Black Culture the exact group of memes we didn't know we needed to describe the very ancient American practice of White people stealing ideas from Black people to make their own, whether it be elements from culture (also known as appropriation) business ideas (here's looking at you Sephora and Moschino) or full-on performances, despite how absolutely iconic those moments may have been, as seen in this case of theft.

    1. Hi. Thanks for the read. To your point; Taylor may have been wearing majorette outfits since whenever or whatever, however in the many years since that song, she has not. As professionals and creative, we always have to think about timing. What does it look like when, for the last almost 2 consecutive years, we have been discussing one performance that had both bands, majorette costumes, and the like, and then a different artist comes out with very similar performance style? Short answer: It looks like copying.

      Again, thanks for reading😊
