Oh, Uh-Uh: Taylor Swift's Homegoing Performance
BuzzFeed |
Looks like Taylor Tree Farm Swift is back at it again. Following her last dragging by the Beyhive for her very obvious copying of Beyoncé's Formation for her dry-ass crying song "Look what you made me do. Receipts below:
Literally Lemonade vs Minute Made.
Well, Swifty Snake is back at it. The recent Billboard Music Awards opened awkwardly with a completely colonized version of Beyoncé's Homecoming, complete with the offbeat cotton candy pink-clad drumline from Pennsyl-tucky State "drumline" and Swift herself in an outfit pretty reminiscent of last year's Coachella destruction known as Beychella.
Anyone who witnessed the sheer and blatant unseasoned caucasity I am not the only one who thinks so. Check out these tweets.
twitter's wild because there are ppl on here saying Beyoncé didn't invent marching bands and we all saw when she did— Desus Nice (@desusnice) May 2, 2019

The band dressed in pink
Her in a leotard
Literally the scene resembles Beyonce's opener at the top of the bleachers
She knows EXACTLY what she was doing and the implications that has #BBMAs
I don’t know if y’all are seeing this but Taylor Swift is gentrifying Beyonce’s Coachella performance right now— Guide Lee (@Chuck_Des) May 2, 2019
Beyonce: headlines Coachella with an all black drum line and band— Nathan MacKinnon (@NathanMackinnon) May 2, 2019
Taylor Swift: opens #BBMAs with a mostly white drum line playing off beat.
Can't wait for everyone to praise her originality🙃
So... Beyoncé makes a lot of other performers look lazy.— Angela Davis (@TheKitchenista) May 2, 2019
Of course, the Swifties have swiftly come to the defense of there Mayochella Maven. But who really cares when you have actual receipts of the very obvious idea snatching that occurred for what was supposed to be Swift's triumphant musical return that very quickly devolved into a very obvious moment of performance colonization.Beyonce didn’t invent a drum line but you can’t convince me that Taylor Swift, from her early years on a Christmas tree farm, came up with this just like that 😂 Sorry.— Lil Conch Snack 🐚 (@abbracadabra_) May 2, 2019
Swift's majorette outfit vs Beyoncé's majorette boots |
haha Taylor Swift has been wearing majorette outfits since the fearless era and she did the whole marching band WAY back in you belong with me. :)) get your facts right girl. and let's not forget that Taylor dressed in leotards her entire tour the years before this. so...is Beyonce a lazy performer?🤔
ReplyDeleteHi. Thanks for the read. To your point; Taylor may have been wearing majorette outfits since whenever or whatever, however in the many years since that song, she has not. As professionals and creative, we always have to think about timing. What does it look like when, for the last almost 2 consecutive years, we have been discussing one performance that had both bands, majorette costumes, and the like, and then a different artist comes out with very similar performance style? Short answer: It looks like copying.
DeleteAgain, thanks for reading😊
